Color-omitted Errors
Much of the writing done on the subject of errors has been illustrated in black and white.  Black-and-white reproduction is not so bad for imperforates and inverts, whose color scheme is not altered by the nature of their error.  Color-omitted errors are a different story.  Black-and-white reproduction can't begin to capture their full glory.  This gallery affords the opportunity to view some standout color-omitted errors in full color, as they were meant to be viewed and are best appreciated.  So please enjoy!  Use the arrows to browse.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!
Baseball.  1969.  Black omitted
Scott No. 1381a
A visually striking transition pair coupled with a great topical.  The ball is suspended in midair, perhaps waiting to be blasted into left field, and as the eye travels from left to right in anticipation of the hit, it observes the color fading, until at right, devoid of inscription, only the very essence of the stamp remains.  A starkly attractive error that is, in itself, a home run!

A Great Rarity in a Wonderful Transition Pair!
Savings Bonds. 1966.
Dark blue omitted
Scott No. 1320c
Transition pairs are always instructive, and here we see two stamps, the upper with nearly the complete omission of most colors and the lower stamp with only a slight omission of color.  A great combination of eye-appeal and rarity.
