This stamp
is a favorite among would-be fakers. Most examples turn
up on used stamps and thus can be discounted. Occasionally,
mint examples (or attempts) turn up. Yellow is completely
gone from the mint example illustrated above, but traces of magenta
remain. That is a tip-off that the error has been faked.
The paper on this example also appears somewhat toned. The gum
is lighter than that of a normal stamp.
